Today, I got given a tasks to do which was making a Thank You card to the teacher I was with last week and who stood out to me the most. The teacher that stood out to me last week was one of our school teacher's Miss Morrison. She wasn't the only that stood out but the best teacher last week was Miss Ashley. They both had did a lot of fun things they did in their groups and some of the days, I was with them. The letter says it all but Miss Ashley you were the best as well.

WALT use Bloom's Taxonomy to critically summarize a current event

Today, the people that didn't go camp had to do a current events tasks. It is a tasks that you have to find a story to read about and answer the questions given to you on each slide. I did a story called (Coming Second Place) and the story was all about how the NZ woman seven's came second place. They had got beaten by Australia and they feel guttered because they thought they put down NZ. This story is really interesting to read and you should read it.

Camp Raglan Movie !!

Past the few days, the student leaders and me have created a movie to show our parents for the Camp Raglan 2016. WALT write a cultural poem

This is my Maori Poem that I have created with no help. It was a tasks that we got given because it was all about our school inquiry topic (Celebrations).

Here is my Cultural Poem:

The Maori flag sits high in the sky, waving around and saying hi,

Our Maori flag flies higher than the rest, but everyone know’s Maori’s are the best,

My maori race, I will not disgrace

Because we are here to win this place,

The maori clothes is what we wear, to show that we all have no fear,

I sit here as a Maori with happiness and pride, but there is usually nothing to hide,

A waiata and haka is what we sing, to know that we aren’t always the bling,

But taste our food because it will change your mood,

My Maori pride is my mind, but my Maori blood is my kind,

Howick Movie Theatre

WALT to reflect on what we did

Today, Some of the year 4-8 students had went to the Howick Movies to watch The Secret Life Of Pets. It was a really good movie to watch because so of the parts had made me and my pairs laugh. The highlight of the movie for me was when the Snowball (The Rabbit) and Max (The Dog) had worked together to save Duke (The big dog) life. It was a really interesting movie to watch because of the parts showed the same actions as my real dog.

School Fun ! EOTC Week

WALT reflect on what we did today

Yesterday on the 23rd of November 2016, We had a school fun for our EOTC week. So far we have did Bowling-Lazer Strike, Minigolf, School Fun and Movies. It was a really exhausting and fun day yesterday because we had slip and slide, and team building activities. We got put into 4 groups with each adult and we had four rotations.

The rotations were:

• Hand Painting
• Paper Christmas Tree's
• Christmas Star
• Face Painting

Some of the things we did were quiet difficult especially the Christmas star which was with Miss Morrison. After lunch time we had heaps of fun doing High Jump, Obstacle Courses and Water activities but my highlight was wetting the teachers. The teachers found it fun aswell but so did the students.

Lilliput Mini Golf

WALT reflect on what we did at Mini Golf

Today on the 22nd of November 2016, we went to Mini Golf for the 4-8 EOTC. Some people had fun doing the Mini Golf and so did I. First of all, we entered our school building and waited in one classroom (Room 6). Then we departed TPS to go to Mini Golf. It was at a well known area which was (Orakei) but if you don't know where Mini Golf is, it is next to Parnell Pools. We got put into groups and off we went to play Mini Golf. 

My group members that were participating with me was:

• Faka'ata
• Kensington
• Coralee

I enjoyed the playing Mini Golf with the people I was with because they were really good at playing and they were making me laugh to much. Thanks to Kensington and Faka'ata mum because she had bought me and my group members a Trumpet and Popsicle each. She was really generous to even buy us food and use her money for us.

The best words that I can suits my feelings at Mini Golf are:

EOTC Week !!

WALT reflect on what we did so far at EOTC

Today 21 November, Some of the year 4-5-6-7-8 went to EOTC which stands for Education Outside The Classroom. All we did was go to Tenpin Bowling and Lazer Strike. We got put into groups of 6 because of the bowling space but we were group 12. It was a really fun day outside the classroom and I can't wait until tomorrow because we are doing mini golf.

Food and Treats

Today in this block, we had got given a book to read with a buddy in Room 6. The book we got given was Food and Treats and the book was full of heaps of ideas but here is the things we had read about in the book.

• Hundreds And Thousands
• Whipped Cream
• Dessert Jelly
• Soft Drinks
• And Chocolate & Chip Cookies

The thing that was mostly important in the book was How hundreds and thousands were made, How dessert jelly goes wobbly and How you melt the butter to make the cookie chewier. The book was really interesting to read because we found out things we didn't even know but now that we had read the book, we know what the special things are in food and treats. Everyone has a favourite food treat but I wonder what is the science behind making them ??. In the book, a food manufacturer opens doors to reveal some of the secrets behind making these popular and yummy treats. But in this book, you will learn the difference between natural and processed sugar and how you can eat sweet food. From my point of view, don't eat too much sweets because it is not healthy for you.

Dart Board

WALT create our own maths dart board

Today me and Daimai have started our maths dart board and we are finishing it off right now. Our dart board has to contain decimals, addition and subtraction. We have to also create our darts but we are going to use pencils as our darts. I will upload another blog post when we are finished doing our dart board.

Kiwi Can

Last Week for Kiwi Can we played a game called noodle soccer for this game we used those noodles you use for swimming to smack the ball into the other teams goal. Our team won because the other team kept on cheating because they were using there foot to blocking the goal so whenever they did that the point went to my team. Also we had to do our activity and that was making up a chant for our class and the boys made up one and it was just like juju on that beat but they changed some of the words I thought that there's was really cool because they did like a cool dance and yeah. We also had to write down on a paper of what responsibility means and then share it with the class.

Food and Treats

WALT: write about what we read about today.

Today for Sustain Silent Reading we had o read a book and I chose Science Of Food Treats. I chose this book because I really like food and I thought that it'll be really interesting learning about food. So when I first read this book it mostly had the science behind jelly,cookies,whipped

cream,hundreds and thousands and soft drinks. It also had methods on how to make these things and I think when I get home today I am going to make these things because I really wanna eat it. I will tell you how to make Hundreds & Thousands. FIrst you have to get the ingredients which is starch and sugar then it goes through a machine which adds powder like icing sugar and then the dry ingredients get put in a machine that coats them in a rotating pan then it sieves them into 8 different machines they then colour all the containers different colours then they are dried in a heat room and there ready to get shipped off. This book was really about Chocolate Chip Cookies, Whipped Cream and Jelly

This is the vocabulary tasks I worked on with Ajani and Amelia. It was a tasks that you had to research about on every word and you had to add a image relating to it. It was really fun and easy because we had used a site called "Padlet".

Practice Narrative

This is my story that I had did for my practice narrative test. It was a really good session doing it but I really hope you enjoy reading my entertaining story I had created. Here it is

She loves to write stories and make them come alive but this is only the beginning.

She falls asleep and wakes up in the middle of a old and horror looking forest.

Why is she there? How did she get there? Is she dreaming? I ask myself, Well as you can see I am going to introduce you to my character (Diamond).

It was a very long day for Diamond, with all of these jobs she had to do such as doing chores, walking to the supermarket and helping her family out with things but as you know everyone hates doing things like that. Diamond is a young, generous and beautiful girl with really strict parents. They didn’t usually let her do what she wanted but that’s what her life was like. She was really busy, she didn’t get to eat that much of the day but she was really helpful and did what her parents needed. Sometimes her parents pissed her off and she didn’t listen to them but at some point she would just forgive them and help them out. It was the end of the day and after all that she went to eat her dinner and off to her room she started writing stories. She really loved writing stories and she had one of her favourite stories she loved to read and it was called “The Unknown Forest” and it was a true story that had actually happened to her. It is all about a forest that no one had heard or seen before but off she began reading her true story…

Was it a dream? Did it actually happen? And Why choose me? I asked myself. I was sleeping and suddenly I wake up in the middle of a strange and ugly forest. I don’t know why and how I got there but I took my time to take a look around and see if it was real… “It was real” I said to myself but I was wearing my dad’s favourite jumper, the red hoodie and I was wearing a white dress with black shoes and holding a basket. I sped like a cheetah as I am scared to go further but I see two children, (Ricky and Nicole) all alone in the dark, freezing to death and I ask them “Are you alright” then they staunch me out and say with anger and a devil voice, Why are you here? Go home right now. You are not safe here… I was so frightened and I didn’t know what to do so I ran like a bull seeing the colour red. There were four ways to go and I couldn’t choose but my mum said “always stick to the middle” so I took the middle way and it led me to a big and random shed. I had a weird feeling that someone or something was watching me so I turned around and saw was a dragon behind the shed wanting help. The dragon looked so sick, useless and weak then I go over to help it. I stayed with it for about 2 weeks, then the dragon was happy and hugged me a thank you and goodbye. I was so proud and happy but then I carried on walking to find my way out.

I heard weird and scary singing, there were a bunch of people praying for the devil as I could see with my own eyes but at the back of them were hostages. I make a plan before saving the hostages. I walk back with no glance at the back and “SNAP” the tree breaks. The group stares at me as if I was their prey and off I run. The forest was getting darker and darker as I was running towards the light and “BANG” I trip up. It was a moving tree trying to help me hide but I thanked the tree for helping me. “My name is Diamond” What’s your name? I asked the tree, “My name is Chance and I have been turned into a tree from the Soul Mates” What’s the soul mates? I asked Chance, Well they are a group of people who makes you there slave and turns you into animals or trees if you don’t obey them.

The soulmates are the horror to the trees nightmares.His hands were as big as god trying to keep me.

“You are lucky I saved you” the tree said, I replied with a “thank you now can you put me down” so Chance put me back onto the ground and off I went to start my plan. First of all I had to distract them onto the other side and second, I had to save the hostages. As fast as I could, I saved all the villages but as I tried to leave the soul mates surrounded me and locked me up. “ARGH” I screamed as loud as possible, “HELP ME” but no sound was to be heard besides my echo in the darkness. I wanted to go back home but I couldn’t find a way. The soul mates kept me in there for so long I could barely talk and walk. I needed a drink and food to eat but no one was there to rescue me.

What will happen next? Why are they doing this? I kept asking myself. Then 2 days later the group of hostages helped me out and even a dead ghost cat. I cried because they had helped me but I asked them “Can you help me find a way home” they replied with a “yes we can, follow me” as I followed them they lead me to a secret door called the, hidden Door and it took me back home. I suddenly woke up and I kissed my parents with a “I love use and I am not leaving use anymore” they laughed and replied “Honey it’s only early in the morning” and I found out that it was all a dream.” I wish I never ever will dream like that but at some parts of my dreams, the hostages would always talk to me and keep me company while I sleep”. I had peaceful dreams.

I think celebrations can be happy at sometimes because you can be excited that it is your birthday or sometimes you can be sad because someone died in your family and you can be depressed.

Reading - The year the world changed

WALT reflect on what we had read about...

I had read a book about the year the world changed... It was a book about what year the world changed and it was 1913. One hundred years ago, the world was on the verge of many momentous changes. Technology, Society, Travel and the arts were about to be transformed. In the century since 1913, the world has seen more changes occurring at a faster pace than ever before. Who know's what the next 100 years will bring ?? One thing is certain that there will be even more dramatic changes in the ways we lead our lives. Right now in our years there will still be different changes happening in our lives. Technology will still be around, Internet will still be around, Electronics will still be around and all the things that are living here with us right now will still be around in the late 3015.

This book was very interesting for me to read and I really enjoyed reading about it. It is called "The year the world changed". I would say that you could read this book but I hoped you enjoyed reading my summary about this book.

What makes Tamaki Special ??
To me, Tamaki is so special because it is a school filled with mixed cultures and different things you could do. Tamaki Primary is a school that you can do lots of things and the importances of Tamaki is that we got our own school values and they are Manaakitanga, Whanaungatanga, Rangimarie, Tukumarie and Ako. The Unknown Forest

WALT practice for our narrative writing

From tuesday until now I had written a story of the picture down on the last slide. It is about a girl with a red hoodie roaming the forest but my story is about a girl who wakes up in the middle of the forest from her sleep. She finds a dragon and helps it, she trips up from a tree, she see's a bunch of people and she helps the hostages from behind the devil people. I hope you enjoy reading my story.

Celebrations

WALT list down some of the things we do in a celebration

All I think of when I hear the word celebration is having fun, enjoying time, getting along and spending time with your friends or family. Celebrations can be known as Birthdays, Family Meetings, Graduation, Honey moons and many more but there is only one thing people love to do, a birthday party. Have you been to a birthday party before? What do you hear at a celebration? And why does celebrations happen?... To me I think celebrating is like showing respect to someone on their special something and a celebration is a day where kids get heaps of food while their parents are outside drinking and having a peaceful day. The only thing kids want on a celebration is munchies and presents but that’s what happens when you have your own special day.

Here is my poem that I had made about what my favourite thing was in the holidays. I had did alot of things in the holiday but going to the movies to watch Nerve was the best thing I did.

Get Firewise

Today I had created a firewise poster on how to keep safe around fire.Some people had passed away during fire in their house and some fires start by leaving food on in the kitchen and leaving lighters and matches around so the little kids can play with them.You need to be careful around fire because you can either get deep fire skin burns and you can die.Be safe around fire and get down, get out and get firewise.

45 Failed Test From Beijing London

I am learning to produce information from our own informed perspective

Today I had finished the tasks that my teacher had given me and my group.It was a tasks where we had to read an article called "International Olympic Commitee Announces 45 Failed Test From Beijing London".The article was about people who used drugs to make themselves stronger and faster just to win a medal.Some athletes had used the Steroid drug or known as the "drug that makes you stronger and faster" and was caught cheating.They were never allowed to compete for the olympics ever again.I had really enjoyed reading the story on how athlete get treated when they cheat.

Olympic Values

Today we got given a tasks where we had to research an athlete who is competing for the Rio Olympics right now.I had chosen one athlete and that is Valerie Adams.She had come 2 place for the Women's shot put for 2016 and she is so proud of herself.Valerie Adams has been a really good athlete pass the few years for the Rio Olympics 2016.She is a member for the New Zealand Women's Shot put.We had got given 3 parts and this is part 1.

Huriana Manuel

Huriana Manuel plays centre and she is the captain for the Women’s Sevens….

Skills

The best two skills for Huriana Manuel is being a try saver known as (defending the other team to not score) and playing the position of centre.The mostess tries she had got for the 2016 Rio Olympics was 18.In the end , the overall score together was 52 to 31 versing Kenya.She played Centre for the rest of her rugby life.

Success

Huriana wanted to become a rugby player when she was 10 years old and 15 years later she became what she wanted to be.The news had spread saying that there is going to be a Woman’s Seven Rugby Team competing for the Rio Olympics and she thought of joining the best New Zealand Girls Rugby Team.She is now competing for the Rio Olympics right now for 2016.She hasn’t been playing rugby recovering to the injury for another 3 month.

Dream

Huriana two dreams that she wants to do when she ends the lifetime of rugby is being a pro surfer and traveling the world.Being a pro surfer was a big thing to her when she was playing rugby but she thought of rugby first.She has now achieved her goals on what she wants to be.The person that made her chase her dreams was her rugby coach (Sean Horan).

She chose one goal and stuck to it and the goal was Rugby…...

Huriana Manuel was a rugby player that would always encourage others to try their best and not give up no matter what happens.She is a inspiration to others.

My Group Article Review

Bloom's Taxonomy

Today was the day where we had to get into groups of 4 , researching a story in the New Zealand Herald about the Rio Olympics.We read the article about the Women's Sevens coming second place versing Australia.My group buddies were Petra, Jennifer and Faith and we all had to complete slides each to complete our work so we can present it to the class.

The skills that we did to help us understand the article was using our researching skills.It was a really good skill because we managed to slightly finish off the presentation and it was a maxinmum of 8 slides and we had to do it in 1 hour using year 7 and 8 quality.

Next time I will work on finishing off the tasks and learning how to speak with confidence in front of the class.We did a really good job working together as a group cause we all used our researching skills to make it year 7 and 8 high quality.

Today we had a really interesting block with Heather and Tony.They were teaching us how to keep safe around dogs and they were giving us good facts about dogs.Heather had a dog called Dicyan and he has been trained well and knows how to listen to what people say (The Owner).He was a really cool dog.

Challenges of hosting

Today for reading, (Amazing Analysers, & Brilliant Inferes...) came together as a group, and worked together to find out what the challenges are.As we gathered into groups of 5, we then separated ourselves, and gave us 1 different option to read about, and then inform and fill the box with the information we were able to find during reading the story.

Political Impacts (Jennifer)	The political crisis. In Brazil there is a problems with the politics. The reason why? It all started in December where their was a corruption scandal that is was threatened to boil over. While that was happening the president Dilma Rousseff won the re-election for the second term in 2014. The corruption scandal aka the operation car wash was investigated for 2 years up to now. On the brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo, reports that Vice president Michel Temer was accused of attempted murder for the corruption scandal.
Police & Legacy Impacts (Paris)	The police and legacy crisis. In Brazil there is a major problem with the policemen.Over the years that went past , innocents have been killed and now the people find it hard to walk the streets.In 2014, 580 people have died and in 2015, 645 people have been killed and that is a overall of 1,225 people who have died.Brazil police rank the worlds most deadly.
Economic Impacts (Amelia)	The games themselves haven’t been immune to budget cuts, but as brazil faces further cuts in the immediate future, it’s becoming clear that the money it has spent on the games could have been better utilized.
Environmental Impacts (Losana)	Every olympics naturally comes with environmental problems, and questions. When the Associated Press analyzed the bay water, they found that it was still disgusting. The IOC won’t let themselves test on the water.
Health Impacts (Petra)	The zika virus is a minor health problem in Brazil.Doctors believed that the zika virus wouldn't have much of an impact on the olympics but a lot of athletes are still thinking of not going because of the virus.Others have chosen to get quarantined instead. The government sent military and health professionals to cleanse Rio of mosquitoes, and promised that athletes and fans wouldn’t face much risk.
